On this Valentine’s Day, we at Mid-Cumberland Community Action Agency would like to give a heartfelt thanks to everyone who has helped us make life a little better for the people we serve in Sumner County.
Many of us have been blessed with a life of plenty. We live in a country that ensures our liberties and encourages our ambitions. We also live in a region whose friendly people and natural beauty have drawn some of the best companies for which to work. But some of us get left behind in all this prosperity. The rest of us, therefore, have a moral obligation to make sure the less fortunate have an opportunity to succeed.
MCCAA is an organization dedicated to helping less-fortunate families achieve self-sufficiency. Since 1971, MCCAA has provided a number of home energy assistance, medical support, transportation, rental, mortgage and utility assistance, and nutritional services to Middle Tennessee families. Agency programs include Head Start and Early Head Start, Self-Sufficiency and Income Tax Preparation. The agency services eight Mid-State counties, which include Cannon, Cheatham, Robertson, Rutherford, Sumner, Trousdale, Williamson and Wilson.
But we at MCCAA could not help as much as we do without the support we get daily from people like you, who belong to civic organizations, businesses, institutions and local governments that strive to make our communities the best they can be. I want to especially thank those who helped to make our “Last-Minute Toy Store” a success. Thank you to Bledsoe Baptist Association, Toys for Tots (Bob Epley), Cooks Pest Control, Goodall Builders, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Dollar General Stores, Homesafe, Gallatin Department of Electricity and Ricky Black.
We also thank Gallatin Cares, Hendersonville Samaritian Center, Gallatin Public Utilities, Cumberland Electric Membership Cooperative, Tri-County Electric, Portland Cares, Portland Utilities, Good Neighbor Mission, Wal-mart Pharmacy and Vision Center, Gallatin Housing Authority, Faith Christian Center, Wheeler Automotive, University of Tennessee Agriculture Extension Office, Hendersonville Chapter Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., Community Corrections, Gallatin Post Office, Sumner County Sheriff’s Department (Trustee Division), Sumner County Branch/Buffalo Valley, Dr. Ben Hibbler, Nashville Electric, Nashville Gas, all landlords who partner with MCCAA, the Tennessee Department of Human Services, Gallatin Mini Storage, Amerigas, Gallatin Backhoe and our many Head Start partners. These organizations have done so much to make sure our families have basic necessities and a decent quality of life.

MCCAA appreciates what you do to help us as we work diligently to improve the quality of life of the individuals, children and families who may not have the same advantages that many of us take for granted. As we enjoy this Valentine’s Day with a loved one, please remember there are others of us who struggle daily to make ends meet and would appreciate a helping hand from a sincere neighbor.
