Recruits senior citizens as volunteers to help schools,
nursing homes, senior-citizen centers and other service organizations. More than 400 volunteers serve in MCCAA's
RSVP program. People 55 and older with a myriad of experiences and interests from all economic backgrounds serve
in the program.
Provides assistance to those who do not have prescription
drug insurance coverage. Also helps eligible participants with receiving medical supplies.
Assists low-income families to set and meet goals that
promote self-sufficiency and help eliminate causes of poverty. Also available to eligible participants is
free electronic filing of income-tax returns.
Provides non-perishable food items to eligible people
and families through a collaboration and partnership
with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Tennessee
Emergency Food Assistance Program. Teaches proper
nutrition and helps participants make wise decisions
with their food stamps. Also helps people reduce grocery
expenses by teaching them how to grow gardens.
Provides financial assistance and counseling to people
and families who need emergency help with housing and utility costs.
Provides housing-repair assistance for septic systems, safe water
supply and the construction of wheelchair ramps.
